First Aid/CPR Instructor Recertification

Service Description
First Aid Instructors are required to take a 6 hour course for each discipline they teach (examples of disciplines include Red Cross Core, Professional Responder and Wilderness First Aid). This course will provide updated information and changes to the program. It also provides an in-depth study and discussion on various instructional techniques. Candidates will also demonstrate teaching and corrective feedback communication in skill stations, and receive peer feedback. Candidates must be able to demonstrate first aid skills to acceptable standards. Professional development components of the course are set by Canadian Red Cross and change for each 3 year cycle. Prerequisite: A Current Canadian Red Cross First Aid Program Instructor Certification Taught a minimum of 3 Canadian Red Cross First Aid Programs during the three-year certification cycle (this will need to be shown to the Instructor Trainer at the start of the course) One courseof the 3 must have been taught in each Instructor designation seeking recertification (highest level of certification with each program area). For example, a Red Cross Core instructor must have a taught a minimum of 1 Standard First AId Course out of the 3. Course Duration: 6 hours Certification: 3 Years
