First Aid Instructor - Recert (Virtual)
Available spots
Service Description
COURSE LENGTH: 4 HOURS OFFERED IN CLASS AND VIRTUALLY For current Red Cross instructors who wish to recertify their instructor certification and who have already completed the Instructor Recertification Hub. The Canadian Red Cross First Aid & CPR Instructor Recertification Spoke is part of the recertification process for the First Aid & CPR Instructor discipline. The Instructor Recertification Hub must be taken as well to complete the recertification process. In July 2020, the Canadian Red Cross introduced new discipline-specific Instructor Recertification courses. An evolution to their previous model, the discipline-specific recertification courses align with the Instructor Development Program and respect the difference in skills needed and target audiences for each discipline. In the previous model, recertifying a Professional Responder or Wilderness & Remote First Aid Instructor certification would recertify all other instructor certifications automatically. Under this new model, instructors will need to recertify each of their certifications sepearately (First Aid & CPR Instructor, Wilderness & Remote First Aid Instrucotr and Professional Responder Instructor). Completing the Instructor Recertification Hub and this First Aid & CPR Instructor Recertification Spoke will only recertify your First Aid & CPR Instructor certificate. Every instructor recertifying must have taught a minimum of 3 Canadian Red Cross courses during their three-year certification period, and at least one needs to be a Standard First Aid & CPR Level C course. PREREQUISITES In order to recertify your instructor certification, you must meet the following prerequisites: • A current CRC First Aid Program Instructor certification, • Have taught a minimum of three Canadian Red Cross First Aid Program courses during the three-year certification period (including at least one Standard First Aid & CPR Level C) Please submit teaching records through MyRC. Courses which were taught in combination (example: Standard First Aid and Emergency First Aid) do not count as separate courses for the purpose of re-certification prerequisites.
