Service Description

The Canadian Red Cross Instructor Recertification Hub component consists of a review of fundamental learner centred principles, as well as introduction to new educational technologies and new ways of utilizing your existing toolbox of instructional techniques. Hub session participation is required and relevant for all Instructors rectifying within the Canadian Red Cross First Aid Programs, across all Disciplines including the Core Programs, the Professional Responder Programs the Wilderness Programs, and the Youth Leadership Programs. Hub sessions are a great opportunity to interact with other Canadian Red Cross Instructors and learn from each other's unique strengths, backgrounds, and experiences. You only need to complete the Hub component once in every 3-year instructional cycle, and you may complete the corresponding Spoke session(s) in the same day, the next day, or even weeks/months apart. You do need to complete the Hub component prior to completing any of the Spoke components within your 3-year cycle. The Canadian Red Cross Instructor Recertification Hub component can be delivered in a virtual video meeting format such as Zoom, Skype or Google Meet. Successful and meaningful participation in a virtual classroom session does require a desktop computer/laptop with high-speed internet connection capable of establishing and maintaining high resolution, 2-way audio-visual transmission through virtual meeting technology for the duration of each session. The virtual format also makes it necessary to start early for technical logistics and take more frequent breaks throughout each session, so the overall time to complete a Hub session through video meeting generally exceeds 4 hours in total.
